The Ebro, as it passes through the lands of the Merindades, in the north of Burgos, leaves on its banks the beautiful town of Frias, the smallest in Spain. Its surprising silhouette on a rocky outline is framed by the imposing Humión peak, the highest in the Montes Obarenes Natural Park.
The Castle of the Velasco family and the Church of San Vicente Mártir preside over this Historic-Artistic Site. Around these buildings are huddled hanging houses hanging from the rock defying the laws of gravity.
