Castle of Alcalá del Júcar
At first it must have been erected as a Muslim work, as a result of the border reinforcement in Almohad times, at the end of the XII century, before the Christian advance of Alfonso VIII, passing to the Christian side when he conquered the Júcar area around the year 1213. Although recently restored and rebuilt, it seems that the current appearance is due to the fortifications carried out in the middle of the XV century, at the time of Don Juan Pacheco, Marquis of Villena. It consists of a pentagonal tower and two circular turrets at right angles, all with three floors inside; outside there are still remains of the original wall of the town. In 1994, with the project II of the School Workshop of Alcalá del Júcar, the natural environment was conditioned, improving the entrance of the Castle.
