Vejer Castle
CastilloVejer Castle is a medieval fortress located in the highest part of Vejer de la Frontera, in the province of Cadiz, and today serves as a heritage resource that can be visited in the historic center. It is a castle of Islamic origin, built between the tenth and eleventh centuries according to the sources consulted, in a strategic location for the visual control of the environment and the defense of the old walled enclosure. In its preserved factory highlights the main door with horseshoe arch, linked to the period of Muslim domination, and several canvases and rectangular towers that are part of the fortified enclosure. The architectural reading of the set responds to a medieval military structure with later historical phases, in which elements of Andalusian tradition and transformations of the Christian era coexist. The castle was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument on June 3, 1931 and is currently recognized as an Asset of Cultural Interest. Its heritage value is integrated into the urban landscape of Vejer, one of the most representative historical sites of the region, closely linked to the defensive and urban evolution of the town during the Middle Ages. Although today it has lost its military function, it retains a high historical and monumental interest for its antiquity, its dominant position over the town and the permanence of original defensive features. It is one of the most important heritage landmarks of Vejer de la Frontera and an essential reference to understand its medieval origin.

Church of the Divine Savior
Iglesia / ErmitaThe Church of the Divine Savior is a parish church in Vejer de la Frontera, located in the walled historic center, in the upper part of the town and next to the old defensive enclosure. The temple stands on the site of an ancient mosque, a fact that explains its strategic position and its link with the medieval history of the town. Its construction corresponds to two main stages. The chevet corresponds to a Gothic-Mudejar phase of the 14th century, while the western extension was built in late Gothic between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century; some sources extend this reform to the 16th century. The building has a basilica plan with three naves, the central one being higher than the lateral ones. Among its most outstanding patrimonial elements are the medieval chevet, the pointed arches and the tower visible from a good part of the old town. Also mentioned is the main altarpiece, a work attributed to Francisco de Villegas, although part of its artistic heritage was altered by losses and later reforms. Because of its chronology and the mixture of Gothic-Mudejar and late Gothic, the church is one of the main monumental testimonies of the transition between the Islamic and Christian city in Vejer de la Frontera.

In this area the water of the spring of La Muela and the old hydraulic system linked to the stream and the mills has configured a traditional landscape of great interest, where the natural environment and the human use of water are explained together. The local and tourist reference identifies it as a natural pool linked to this environment of meadows, orchards and riparian vegetation. The most interesting thing for the visitor is its integration in a landscape of countryside and hillsides, with vegetation typical of a humid Mediterranean environment and with the nearby presence of heritage elements such as the aqueduct and the mills of Santa Lucía. This set allows us to understand how the slopes and flows were used to move mills and supply agricultural and domestic uses in the old vega vejeriega. Its relevance lies not only in its scenic value, but also in its role as a testimony to the culture of water in Vejer. The local administration presents Santa Lucía as an outstanding natural area of the municipality, and different tourist sources describe it as a place of ecological and rural interest.
