Nela Natural Bridge

Stone village

caliza

Puentedey, where stone and history merge in every corner.

This small town in the region of Merindades in Burgos, with just over 50 inhabitants, sits on a natural stone bridge, created by the river Nela in the last 90 million years, although the neighbors spoke of a construction devised by God himself, as its name says: Puentedey.

The beautiful medieval complex was built over the natural bridge of the river Nela, which neighbors and visitors have been crossing it on foot for thousands of years, after crossing its medieval walls, unfortunately now disappeared. Puentedey is an interesting urban complex with ancestral homes and popular buildings.
