Castrillo de los Polvazares is a town in the province of León, near Astorga and considered a Historic-Artistic Site. Close to the Camino de Santiago, it is a typical village of the Maragatería region, with cobbled streets, red clay facades and arched gates. The architecture of the village in its current configuration, is totally conditioned to the muleteers, since the transport and storage of goods, which was the main activity in the area until the arrival of the railroad in the nineteenth century, from the cobblestones of the streets, through the shape of the arches of the main entrances, or

Castrillo is a hamlet of Astorga; town center only on foot. Maragatos restaurants at 100-300 m. Area with services in Astorga capital (~6 km): see second point.

Access:
LE-142, parking at the entrance of the village (municipality Astorga). Pedestrian core: leave AC here. Two areas (asphalted next to the entrance + large dirt esplanade). Very busy on weekends (cocido maragato).

Only area with emptying/filling in the municipality of Astorga. Base for visiting Castrillo (LE-142, 6 km). Adjacent heliport (occasional daytime activity).

Access:
Ctra. Sanabria 114, next to the Astorga bullring. Ground esplanade with service column (water and separate emptying). Quiet overnight stay; center 15-20 min walk.
