Yanguas is located in the region of the Highlands of Soria, bordering with La Rioja and Tierra de Cameros Viejos, located at the beginning of the gorge that the river Cidacos has carved along 20 km. to the village and spa of Arnedillo. From this strategic location in the course of the road between Numancia and Calahorra comes its name, which derives from "ianuas" (doors in Latin), and its coat of arms composed of two doors with the motto "Puertas del Val de Arnedo" (Doors of the Val de Arnedo). Located 45 km from Soria and 33 from Arnedo, it was declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1993.
