« Dueto Barroco Compulsivo ». La sculpture et la photographie dialoguent dans l'exposition des salles du Palacio Juan de Goyeneche.

The Salas de Exposiciones of the historic Palacio de Goyeneche will host, from Thursday 12 November, Dueto Barroco Compulsivo. Diálogos entre escultura y fotografía, an artistic project that brings together the work of sculptor Martín Lagares and photographer Adri in a creative encounter between two disciplines. 

The exhibition stems from the friendship and mutual admiration between the two artists, who share an understanding of art as an instinctive means of expression. The project began with a photo shoot in Adri's studio, located in Nuevo Baztán, and a later stroll through the village's streets. What started as an invitation to exhibit at the Palacio de Goyeneche became a joint creative challenge: for Lagares' sculptures to dialogue directly with Adri's photographs. 

The result is an exhibition conceived especially for this monumental space, for which original pieces have been created. In it, Adri's photographs, characterised by the use of low-key lighting and their enveloping atmospheres, become the starting point for Martín Lagares' sculptural interpretation. 

For this project, the Andalusian sculptor moves away from his usual portrait busts and monumental works to explore a new plastic language, with a more visceral modelling that responds to the light, shadows and volumes of the images. In this way, photography transcends the paper and finds a new dimension through clay. 

All the pieces on display have been created for this occasion, with one exception: the renowned sculpture of Camarón de la Isla, by Martín Lagares, which makes a stop in Nuevo Baztán to join this artistic dialogue. 

Martín Lagares was born in La Palma del Condado, Huelva, in 1976. He is a sculptor and a leading creator in the field of contemporary figurative sculpture. Graduated in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Cuenca, he has a extensive career in monumental, civic and religious works, both in Spain and internationally. His work is characterised by intense expressionism and by the use of clay and terracotta to explore identity, emotion and human fragility. This year he has received the Bandera de Andalucía de las Artes. 

Adri, a photographer and creator based in Nuevo Baztán, focuses his work on portraiture, shadow and visual volume. His photographs, built through enveloping atmospheres and carefully directed lighting, create images of great expressive force. His studio in the village was precisely the setting where this joint project began to take shape.
