The beach of Bolonia is a large inlet of clear and fine sand, open to the Atlantic, in the municipality of Tarifa. Its landscape combines beach, a coastal pine forest and a very active dune system, with a mobile dune of great height that advances by the action of the easterly wind and continuously shapes the inner edge of the bay. From the point of visit you can see a wide beach, clear waters and strong sense of open horizon, with the relief of the Moroccan coast on clear days. The most recognizable image is the large dune, visible from the beach itself and from the access walkway, one of the best natural viewpoints of the coast of Cadiz. The environment is within the Natural Park of the Strait and the dune is listed as a Natural Monument of Bolonia, which explains its scenic interest and its conservation against urbanization. Nearby is the Roman archaeological site of Baelo Claudia, which adds historical value to the visit and makes the enclave a highlight of the guides to nature and coast of Cadiz. The best time is usually sunset, when the low light highlights the shapes of the sand and the texture of the dune. It is also advisable out of the days of strong levante, because the wind can make the walk uncomfortable and raise sand.
