Parish Church of Sal Salvador de Vilanova dos Infantes
Iglesia / ErmitaThe Parish Church of San Salvador de Vilanova dos Infantes is a religious temple of parochial character, located in the historic center of Vilanova dos Infantes, in the municipality of Celanova, province of Ourense, Galicia, at coordinates 42.16594, -7.95623. It is part of the heritage landscape of this medieval village, linked to the local historical complex and the traditional environment preserved around the old fortress and the reconstructed tower of the place. From the information available in the sources consulted, it is a church or hermitage dedicated to San Salvador, integrated in a rural enclave of high historical value. I have not found in the sources provided a precise architectural dating or a stylistic ascription sufficiently contrasted, so it is not appropriate to fix with certainty a century or specific style without additional verification. The patrimonial interest of the building is understood within the historical evolution of Vilanova dos Infantes, a settlement of medieval appearance whose identity is marked by the preservation of the traditional farmhouse, the tower and the urban ensemble. The church acts as a religious and neighborhood reference within this cultural landscape, maintaining the relationship between worship, population and historical memory of the place.

Tower of Vilanova dos Infantes (Interpretation Center)
Torre / MurallaThe Tower of Vilanova dos Infantes is the preserved keep of the old medieval castle of the town, today adapted as an Interpretation Center. It is located in Vilanova dos Infantes, in the municipality of Celanova, province of Ourense, and is part of the historical complex of this medieval village. Its origin is located in the Middle Ages; some sources link it to the twelfth century, although the documentation consulted also indicates that it was a prominent fortress in later times and suffered damage in the Irmandiñas revolts of the fifteenth century, after which it was rebuilt. The typology that best defines it is that of a defensive tower / medieval fortress linked to military and residential functions. Of the primitive set of the castle is preserved mainly the tower, which has become the most visible heritage element of the nucleus. The historical reading of the building allows us to understand the strategic control of the enclave over the surroundings of Celanova and its role in the border struggles with Portugal during the late Middle Ages and the Modern Age. Currently, the building houses a permanent exhibition on the history, geography and economy of the region, so it also functions as a museum resource and interpretation of the territory. Its exact location, in the center of Vilanova dos Infantes, reinforces its value as a heritage landmark of the small historical center of Ourense.
