Garganta Naval
PARAJELa Garganta Naval is a fluvial place in the municipality of Valverde de la Vera, in the province of Cáceres, integrated in the landscape of gorges of La Vera. This type of natural resource is linked to mountain watercourses that descend from the southern slopes of Gredos and Tormantos, with a very steep relief, stepped and modeled by erosion on steeply sloping materials. In the region, these gorges are described as permanent rivers with a mainly snowy or mixed regime, with jumps, rapids and small pools associated with fractures in the terrain. In this environment, the most valuable feature is the contrast between the sheet of water, the riverside vegetation and the granite and abrupt relief, which generates a very recognizable landscape of La Vera. Its interest for the visit resides in the natural character of the riverbed, the environmental freshness and the presence of corners of water that, depending on the stretch, can form backwaters and small waterfalls. The location in Valverde de la Vera also places it in a region known for its abundance of gorges and the traditional use of these spaces as places of passage, bathing and scenic enjoyment. The relevance of the Garganta Naval is above all geomorphological and scenic, as it is part of one of the most representative sets of gorges in the north of Cáceres. La Vera is considered a historical and natural region of the northeast of Extremadura, articulated around these mountain watercourses. If the municipal reference identifies it as a place, its value lies in preserving a specific and unique section of the system of gorges verato, closely linked to the local identity of Valverde de la Vera.

The Empalao Museum
MuseoThe Museo del Empalao is an ethnographic museum and interpretation center dedicated to explaining the tradition of Los Empalaos in Valverde de la Vera, Cáceres, within the region of La Vera. It is located at 23 Mirlos Street, in a traditional Verata house that has been restored for its current use and is linked to the town’s Jewish quarter. According to official tourist information, the building was a traditional residence whose first documented renovation dates back to 1850, and it was renovated again in 2003 to be converted into a museum. The municipal project opened to the public in 2002 and is part of the Network of Identity Museums of the Regional Government of Extremadura. The museum tour spans several rooms of the house and explains the ritual of Los Empalaos, one of the most unique traditions of Valverde’s Holy Week, which has been declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in Extremadura. It also incorporates audiovisual resources and offers insight into the traditional way of life of the local population. Given its nature, it is not a monumental architectural landmark, but rather a cultural heritage site that preserves the structure of an old Valverdean house. The provided coordinates, 40.12349, -5.49385, roughly correspond to the official location of the building in the historic center of Valverde de la Vera.

Plaza de la Fuente de los Chorros
CASCADAThe Plaza de la Fuente de los Chorros is a historic urban spring located in the center of Valverde de la Vera, integrated into the network of sprinklers that characterizes the town. It is not a natural waterfall of great unevenness, but a traditional water point where the flow is distributed by visible channels in the public space, forming a unique hydraulic resource and closely linked to the local daily life. The most interesting thing for the visitor is its landscape and ethnographic value: the water flows next to the popular architecture of Valverde de la Vera, declared a Historic-Artistic Site, creating a very representative picture of the region of La Vera. The square functions as an orientation landmark and as an example of the relationship between traditional urbanism and the use of water in a mountain village in the foothills of Gredos. Its relevance does not lie in its size, but in the authenticity of the whole: fountain, watering cans and farmhouse are part of a very recognizable local identity in Extremadura. Due to its exact location in the historic center of Valverde de la Vera, it should be distinguished from other water resources in the area, such as the gorges and natural waterfalls in the municipal surroundings.
