Embalse de la Santa Espina
PARAJEThe Santa Espina Reservoir is a rural site of hydraulic and landscape character located in the surroundings of Urueña, in the region of Montes Torozos, on the valley of the Bajoz river. It is a modest reservoir, built in the fifties to regulate water and support irrigation, although over time it has remained as a space for recreational use, fishing and nature observation. It is about 13 km from the village, in the limestone and gypsum countryside typical of this area of Valladolid. The most interesting part of the visit is its condition as a small inland wetland, with a sheet of water and banks that attract birds, especially as a resting area for migratory birds. In its surroundings there are also elements of riparian vegetation and Mediterranean scrub, and the place lends itself to quiet walks, landscape photography and wildlife observation. The popular name "marsh" itself reflects its local roots and its historical function in the valley. Its current relevance is mainly environmental and recreational: it is part of the natural resources associated with Urueña and is mentioned by tourist and local entities as a point of ornithological interest. There is no specific protection figure for the reservoir in the sources consulted, but there is a clear interest as an enclave of water in a dry territory with a gentle relief, where these points concentrate biodiversity and landscape.

Chapel of Our Lady of the Annunciation
Iglesia / ErmitaPurchase your ticket at the Tourist Office. The Chapel of Our Lady of the Annunciation is a small church located in the municipality of Urueña, in the province of Valladolid, outside the walled city and in a small valley near the town. It is one of the municipality’s most valuable heritage sites and is linked to the former monastery of San Pedro y San Pablo de Cubillas, which dates back to a Mozarabic tradition predating the current building. The chapel was built in the 12th century and is in the Early Romanesque or Lombard Romanesque style, with ornamentation of Catalan origin. It is considered the only fully preserved structure of this architectural type in Castile and León, which makes it exceptionally significant within the region’s medieval heritage. Its layout features a basilica plan with three naves, a transept, and three semicircular apses, as well as a dome over the transept. The building conveys the sobriety and clarity characteristic of the Romanesque style, reinforced by its compact volume and the exterior articulation typical of the Lombard style. Among the notable documented heritage elements is the Romanesque carving of the Virgin of the Annunciation, linked to local worship and the town’s traditional celebrations. The chapel thus maintains its religious and devotional function, in addition to its value as a historical and artistic landmark of Urueña.

Museum of the Bells
MuseoThe Museum of the Bells of Urueña is a museum of ethnographic and patrimonial themes dedicated to bell ringing and traditional sound, located in Urueña, province of Valladolid, Castilla y León, at the coordinates indicated. It is part of the cultural offer of this historic town, linked to the Joaquín Díaz Ethnographic Center and the museum tradition of the municipality. The collection gathers bells of diverse chronologies, with pieces documented between the XV and XIX centuries, and some references extend the arc until the XX century. It has been pointed out as a unique collection and, according to several informative descriptions, as one of the few of its kind in Europe. The sources consulted do not show an architectural typology of the building as the main element, since it is primarily an exhibition space. Its patrimonial interest lies in showing the bell as a sonorous, liturgical and community object, linked to the religious and civil uses of rural life. The museum allows us to understand the evolution of the shapes, sizes and functions of these pieces, as well as their role in the traditional communication of the Castilian villages. In the context of Urueña, a town declared a historic-artistic site, the museum reinforces the image of the municipality as an enclave of cultural and heritage tourism. Its location near the Casasona de los Mayorazgos and within the historical framework of the town places it among the most characteristic resources of this Valladolid town.
