Important remains of the medieval wall of Segura de la Sierra, which protected the urban center, are still preserved. Several defensive towers and well-preserved walls can be clearly distinguished, as well as the four original access gates to the town: the Nueva, the Gontar, the Catena and the Orcera gates. These elements, in addition to their architectural value, allow us to imagine the defensive function that the walled enclosure fulfilled and evoke the strategic role of Segura as a stronghold in the history of the Kingdom of Castile.
