Built in the 15th century when the town became a fief of the Velasco family. Thanks to its excellent state of preservation, it is one of the most beautiful fortresses in La Rioja. It is built of ashlar stone and consists of a rectangular outer enclosure with round turrets at the corners and flanking the entrance gate. In the center of the enclosure stands the keep, which also has a rectangular floor plan, with octagonal turrets at its corners and is crowned with machicolations and battlements.
