José Gonzalvo Vives' Birthplace · Rubielos de Mora

José Gonzalvo Vives (Rubielos de Mora, 1929 - Valencia, 2010), favorite son of his hometown, was a painter and sculptor. He studied in Madrid and Valencia, and began with genre and landscape painting. In the mid 50's he turned to iron sculpture, a discipline in which he excelled nationally and internationally. Established in Rubielos, he carried out important public sculpture commissions in Teruel and other cities. He was an academician of San Carlos and his work can be admired in the museum that bears his name, located in the former convent of Carmelitas Calzados.
