Joaquín Esteban Arnau Ibáñez was born in Rubielos de Mora in 1850. From a young age he stood out for his intellectual and political commitment, joining the Federal Republican Party. He studied Philosophy and Letters in Valencia and Zaragoza, obtaining his doctorate in Madrid, where he connected with Giner de los Ríos and the Institución Libre de Enseñanza. He founded the newspaper El Demócrata and was a great orator, known as the "Aragonese Salmerón". Professor of Metaphysics in Valencia, he also wrote plays and essays. He died in 1890, at the age of 39, after an intense life dedicated to thought and teaching.
