Barranc de la Pegunta

Barranc de la Pegunta

PARAJE

The Barranc de la Pegunta is a natural area of very small size and high ecological interest, linked to the micro-reserve of flora around Peñagolosa. In the sources consulted it appears with black pine forest and presence of holly trees, in a mountain ravine landscape associated with seasonal watercourses and well-preserved vegetation. Its main interest is botanical and scenic: it concentrates forest formations and species typical of humid and shady environments in the Penyagolosa massif, one of the most valuable natural areas in the interior of Castellón. The route and the ravine attract hikers for its mountain atmosphere, the transition between forest and ravine and the quality of the natural environment. The denomination of flora micro-reserve is associated with the protection of rare, endemic or endangered species, and in this case the area mentioned is 11.04 hectares. However, the sources place this enclave in Vistabella del Maestrat, Castellón, within the Penyagolosa Natural Park, not in Puertomingalvo; therefore, the location provided does not coincide with that of the resource described.

Puertomingalvo Castle Guided Tours

Puertomingalvo Castle Guided Tours

Castillo

The “Guided Tours” heritage tourism attraction in Puertomingalvo consists of a tour of Puertomingalvo Castle, a fortress located at one end of the town, atop a rocky outcrop, in the municipality of Puertomingalvo, Teruel, Aragon. The Government of Aragon’s heritage profile indicates that the castle has been restored and converted into a museum, and that guided tours can be arranged through the Tourist Office. It is a castle of medieval origin, linked to the Templars’ conquest of the site in the 12th century, according to regional heritage information. The municipal website and local tourist guides also place the historical narrative within this medieval context, highlighting the 14th-century dungeons and the complex’s subsequent evolution. In terms of its architectural style, it is a rock-cut castle adapted to the topography of the hill, serving a defensive purpose and providing control over the settlement. Among the heritage elements documented in the sources consulted are the fortified enclosure itself, the ancient dungeons, and the museum space inside the castle. The guided tour is part of a broader itinerary through the historic center of Puertomingalvo, but the centerpiece of this attraction is the castle; its preservation and public access allow visitors to understand the town’s medieval history through a key element of the local built heritage.
