Old Church of San Vicente Mártir (XIV century) · Potes

MULTIEXPERIENCIA

The old church of San Vicente Mártir, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2000, is a magnificent example of transition from Romanesque to Gothic. Its construction, between the fourteenth and eighteenth centuries, began with a single nave with four bays and a main chapel covered with a ribbed vault. In the 16th century the sacristy and the bell tower were added. Later, in the 18th century, it was doubled on the Gospel side with a nave of five bays. Today it houses the Center for Lebaniegos Studies and municipal offices, after being restored by the Government of Cantabria in 1996.
