Microrreserva Cerros Margosos de Pastrana y Yebra

PARAJE

The Cerros Margosos de Pastrana y Yebra Microreserve is a protected natural area of terrestrial character, declared in 2002 and with an approximate area of 68.47 hectares. It is located between the municipalities of Pastrana and Yebra, in the province of Guadalajara, in the surroundings of the confluence of the Arlés river and the Val stream with the Tajo river. Its main interest comes from a very specific geological substratum, formed by limestone, gypsiferous marl, gypsum and clay, which conditions a landscape of dry hills and soft materials easily eroded. The most valuable thing to be seen here is the specialized vegetation that has managed to adapt to these marly-gypsiferous and saline soils, a rare and very fragile habitat. Particularly noteworthy is the presence of Limonium erectum, an endemic species with a worldwide distribution restricted to this enclave, as well as other species of botanical interest such as Gypsophila bermejoi, Lepidium cardamine and the orchid Ophrys omegaifera subsp. dyris. For this reason, the route is of interest to both naturalists and visitors looking for discreet but scientifically unique landscapes. Its relevance is above all botanical and conservationist: it protects very well represented halophilic and gypsiferous communities and safeguards endangered species included in the regional catalog. The micro-reserve is part of the network of protected areas of Castilla-La Mancha and was created to conserve an enclave of great ecological rarity on the banks of the Tagus, where human pressure is low and the value of the land lies in its geological and biological uniqueness.

Museum of Santa Teresa

Museo

The Museum of St. Teresa of Pastrana is a thematic museum of religious character located in the Convent of Carmen, in Pastrana (Guadalajara), outside the town center, in the environment linked to the Teresian footprint of the town. The musealization allows to go through the artistic, historical and spiritual memory of the Carmelite foundation promoted by St. Teresa of Jesus in Pastrana. The convent complex was founded in 1569 by St. Teresa of Jesus, so its origin is in the sixteenth century, in the context of the reform of Carmel. The museum was created in 2015, coinciding with the V Centenary of the birth of the saint, and occupies spaces of the old convent, especially the church and the cloister. From the heritage point of view, the interest of the resource lies in the conventual architecture itself and in the historical reading of the place, which preserves the material framework of a Teresian foundation of great relevance for the ducal villa. The sources consulted also highlight the presence of artistic works and of the Christ of Truth as a remarkable piece of the museum complex. The museum helps to understand the importance of Pastrana as a focus of Carmelite spirituality and as a historical enclave of the sixteenth century, integrated today in the cultural and religious route of Teresa of Jesus in the town.

Parish Museum of Tapestries of Pastrana

Parish Museum of Tapestries of Pastrana

Museo

The Museo Parroquial de Tapices de Pastrana is a museum of religious and textile art located in the collegiate church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, in Pastrana, province of Guadalajara, Castilla-La Mancha. It is located in the old Sacristy, now restored for the visit and conservation of the collection, with coordinates very close to 40.41645, -2.92442. Its main singularity is the series of Gothic-Flemish tapestries from the end of the 15th century, considered one of the most important in the world. These pieces narrate the conquests of Arcila and Tangier by the troops of Alfonso V of Portugal in 1471, which makes the museum an exceptional testimony of European courtly tapestry and late medieval visual propaganda. In addition to the tapestries, the museum includes other rooms with works of painting, sculpture and goldsmithing of different chronology, including pieces by Juan de Borgoña and Juan Carreño de Miranda, as well as carvings attributed to Francisco Salzillo and Alonso Cano. The ensemble reinforces the artistic value of the collegiate church as a heritage container and as a space for historical reading of the temple. The historical context of the place is linked to the collegiate church itself, a building with a long history in the town, and to the return and reinstallation of the tapestries after their restoration, which explains the museographic present of the space. The result is a heritage resource of prime importance in Pastrana due to the quality of its collections and the direct relationship between liturgical architecture and artistic collection.

Ducal Palace of Pastrana

Palacio / Casa señorial

The Ducal Palace of Pastrana is a Renaissance palace or manor house located in the town of Pastrana, in Guadalajara, within the historic center of the town. It is one of the most representative civil buildings of the so-called Villa Ducal and is linked to the moment of greatest urban splendor of Pastrana in the Modern Age. Its construction began in 1541-1542 on the initiative of Doña Ana de la Cerda, Countess of Mélito, who commissioned the project to Alonso de Covarrubias, a leading figure of the Spanish Renaissance. The work remained unfinished for centuries and was completed in 1999 with modern intervention in the interior courtyard, according to the regional heritage file. The building has a clear Spanish Renaissance composition, with a square floor plan, four corner towers and a central courtyard. It also stands out for its relationship with the urban space of the town, facing the main square, as a key piece of the historical landscape of Pastrana. RUTA_CORTA

La Ribera del Río Arlés is a short river walk in Pastrana, in the Alcarria region of Guadalajara, associated with the stretch of the Arlés River near the town. The tourist information sheet lists it as a natural site, and the local guides present it as a walk along the riverbed with access to the riverbank and views of the river in an environment close to the town center. The interest of the resource lies in its riverside landscape: a natural corridor where water, riverside vegetation and the slopes of Alcarria articulate a simple itinerary for walking and observing the valley. According to the route disclosed by Caminos de Guadalajara, the Arlés valley is part of the environment that structures the Pastrana itinerary along this riverbed, which reinforces its value as a walk of proximity and as a reading of the local landscape. Its relevance is mainly environmental and scenic, as it complements the historical heritage of Pastrana with a natural space linked to the river. The tourist documentation of the locality places this place among the natural resources of the municipality and also mentions, downstream, La Pangía, where remains of ancient constructions such as mills and walls can be observed, which adds cultural interest to the environment if the entire valley is visited. There is no specific legal protection for this riverbank in the sources consulted, but it is recognized as a local natural resource and as a recommended section for a quiet visit, especially for those who are looking for a short walk, easy to combine with the town and with a reading of the landscape of the Alcarria.
