Fuente del Cerrillo Washing Place · Pampaneira

Under the fountain of the same name, this traditional washhouse with ten basins reflects the importance of water in the life of Pampaneira. Fed by meltwater from the Sierra Nevada, it was a meeting place and community work. Its connection with the Poqueira River and the old irrigation channels reveals a model of sustainable use. Visiting it allows to know the Alpujarra architecture and understand the close relationship between water, landscape and local culture.
