It was inaugurated in 2003 and is part of the museum offer of the Community of Madrid. Its objective is to disseminate the figure of Goyeneche, the illustrated project that gave rise to the town and the architectural planning carried out by José de Churriguera, around the palace and the church, with an orderly urban layout for housing and factory buildings. The center presents models, explanatory panels, reproductions of objects and audiovisual resources to show the historical industries developed in Nuevo Baztán and its surroundings, as well as daily life in the 18th century. Due to its content and its location in a reused historic building, the Interpretation Center acts as a gateway to the heritage of Nuevo Baztán and to the historical reading of the old industrial and urban complex designed within the framework of Enlightenment thinking.

Descansadero de Fuente del Rey

PARAJE

The Descansadero de Fuente del Rey is a rural place in Nuevo Baztán, in the Community of Madrid, associated with the Cañada Real Galiana and located on the border with Pozuelo del Rey. Its traditional function is that of a resting place for livestock and a stopping point for hikers, a place of transit and rest linked to the historical livestock trails of the region. The most characteristic feature of the place is the presence of old pools and a shaded area, features that explain its value as a rest area in a dry land environment. Due to its location, it offers an open and border landscape, typical of the eastern Madrid countryside, where the interest is not in great monumental landmarks but in the reading of the territory, the pastoral infrastructures and the memory of livestock use. Its relevance is above all cultural and territorial: it preserves the trace of the transhumant network and the historical routes that articulated the rural landscape of Nuevo Baztán. In hiking itineraries, it is of great interest as a place to pause and as a testimony of the relationship between water, livestock and traditional mobility in the Alcarria region of Madrid.

Iglesia de San Francisco Javier

Iglesia de San Francisco Javier

Iglesia / Ermita

The Church of San Francisco Javier is the parish church of Nuevo Baztán, in the Community of Madrid, located in the Plaza de la Iglesia and linked to the monumental complex of the old new town promoted by Juan de Goyeneche. It is integrated together with the palace in the central core of the urban fabric, so it is an essential piece of the historical layout of the place. The building was erected at the beginning of the 18th century, between 1709 and 1713, as part of a Baroque urban foundation project associated with the architect José Benito Churriguera. Its architecture responds to the Madrilenian baroque, with a unitary and monumental composition typical of that constructive program. It has a Latin cross plan, with a choir, a raised presbytery and a front on the western façade flanked by two towers. Also noteworthy are the small side chapels and the sacristy behind the presbytery, as well as an altarpiece of patrimonial importance documented in the sources consulted. The church is listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest and is part of the historical-artistic ensemble of Nuevo Baztán, one of the most significant examples of a new Baroque town in Madrid.

The Palacio de Goyeneche is a stately palace and the main axis of the historical complex of Nuevo Baztán, in the Community of Madrid, built at the beginning of the 18th century as the residence of Juan de Goyeneche and as the centerpiece of a new industrial settlement. The complex was conceived at the initiative of Goyeneche, a key figure in the economic promotion of the area, and is integrated into the monumental fabric of the new settlement. The building was constructed between 1709 and 1713 and responds to the Madrid Baroque style, with a design attributed to José de Churriguera. As a heritage site, Nuevo Baztán was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1941 and an Asset of Cultural Interest since 2000. The Community of Madrid describes it as a historical complex founded at the beginning of the 18th century, formed by a palace, houses of trades, stables, wine press, stables and olive grove, surrounded by a stone wall with independent accesses. Valmores Trail

RUTA_CORTA

The Senda de Valmores is a short circular hiking trail located in Nuevo Baztán, in the Community of Madrid, with an approximate distance of 5.5-5.6 km according to the descriptions consulted. It starts from the historic center or its immediate surroundings and is part of the network of trails of the Community of Madrid, so it is proposed as a signposted itinerary for public use for walks and half-day excursions. The route enters the valley of Valmores and the Alcarria Madrileña, a landscape of moors, alcarrias and slopes shaped by natural erosion and human action. Several describe the route as a low to medium difficulty itinerary, with an appreciable slope in some sections, especially in the final part, and with less comfort on hot days or after rains. The most interesting thing for the visitor is the combination of nature and heritage: from the path you can recognize the open character of the landscape, the Mediterranean vegetation of the area and, in some sections, wide views over the rural environment of the southeast of Madrid. In addition, the itinerary links up with a visit to the historical site of Nuevo Baztán, a very unique place due to its industrial and monumental origins. The route is of interest for being one of the most representative options to get to know the immediate natural environment of the town without going too far away from the urban center. Its value lies both in the scenic walk and in the reading of the territory it offers between the historic town and the valley, within a municipality declared a Historic-Artistic Site.

Visita guiada de Nuevo Baztán

Visita guiada de Nuevo Baztán

Visita Guiada

The Guided Tour of Nuevo Baztán is an interpretive heritage tourism resource that allows visitors to learn about the historical complex of Nuevo Baztán, in the Community of Madrid. The experience focuses on the reading of the urban layout, the palace and the church, in a municipality conceived as an illustrated project linked to the early industrialization of the eighteenth century. Nuevo Baztán was born at the beginning of the 18th century on the initiative of Juan de Goyeneche and with architectural planning attributed to José Benito de Churriguera. The sources highlight its condition of historical-artistic complex and its unitary design, in which residential, industrial and representative spaces are integrated around squares and main buildings. From the artistic point of view, the complex is linked to the Castilian Baroque, with an urban composition that is both functional and monumental. Among the documented heritage elements are the Goyeneche Palace, the church, the historic squares and the old industrial complex, which explain the origin of the place as a settlement for artisans and workers. The guided tour offers, therefore, a brief but rigorous approach to an enclave created ex novo to materialize an economic and urban project of the Spanish Enlightenment, today oriented to the dissemination and enhancement of its historical heritage.
