Camino del Agua
RUTA_CORTAThe Camino del Agua is a short circular hiking route in Mogarraz, in the Sierra de Francia, in the province of Salamanca. The itinerary is articulated around the valley of the river Milanos, a tributary of the river Francia, and links the environment of Mogarraz with that of Monforte de la Sierra, in a mountain landscape of strong rural and natural identity. It is a walk of about 6-7 kilometers, of low or medium difficulty depending on the source consulted, with an approximate duration of two hours. The route runs through forests of chestnut, oak, alder and strawberry trees, as well as areas of traditional crops of the Sierra de Francia, so it is interesting both for its scenic value and for the constant presence of water in streams, streams and small waterfalls. Its uniqueness lies in the combination of nature and contemporary art: the route is part of the "Art in Nature" proposals and is dotted with sculptures and works by different artists along the way. It is also marked with trail markers and its own logo, which facilitates the visit and reinforces its character as an interpretive itinerary. Because of its location in the Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia Natural Park and because it has become one of the best-known routes in the area, the Camino del Agua is of recreational, scenic and cultural interest. It is a very suitable option for visitors who want to get to know Mogarraz from a short, accessible and representative trail of the Sierra de Francia.

Serrano Embroidery Interpretation Center
Centro de interpretaciónThe Serrano Embroidery Interpretation Center is a heritage tourism resource—specifically, an interpretation center—located in Mogarraz, in the Sierra de Francia, in the province of Salamanca, Castile and León. Its purpose is to promote and highlight Serrano embroidery, a form of craftsmanship and intangible cultural heritage linked to the region’s cultural identity. The center is located at 7 Pozo Barrero Street and occupies a public building adapted for visitor services, featuring a lobby, reception area, exhibition hall, restrooms, and a storage room. Sources indicate that it will open in 2024—specifically in early November—as the municipality’s new cultural outreach space. Sierra embroidery was declared an Intangible Cultural Asset by the Regional Government of Castile and León in 2022, a fact that explains the significance of this center as a tool for interpreting and preserving a folk tradition passed down from generation to generation. For this reason, the center is not notable for its unique historical architecture, but rather for its ethnographic and heritage content, which focuses on the techniques, uses, and meanings of traditional embroidery from the Sierra de Francia.

Casa de las Artesanías Ethnographic Museum
MuseoThe Casa de las Artesanías Ethnographic Museum is an ethnographic museum located in the Plaza Mayor of Mogarraz, in the province of Salamanca, Castile and León, at coordinates 40.49183, -6.05258. It is a heritage site focused on the material culture and traditions of the Sierra de Francia, with an exhibition dedicated to daily life and the traditional crafts of the area. The museum is housed in a traditional multi-story building typical of Mogarraz, which various sources describe as a former inn or traditional home repurposed as a museum space. Its exhibits are designed to showcase local crafts, particularly traditional jewelry, shoemaking, and mountain embroidery, as well as items related to clothing and household goods. It also features recreated rooms and settings to provide context for the mountain way of life. The sources consulted do not provide an exact date for the museum’s founding; therefore, the institution should not be considered to have been established a century ago. It can, however, be stated that the center is housed in a traditional building in the historic district of Mogarraz, a town with a strong heritage identity and well-preserved traditional mountain architecture. Its appeal to tourists lies in offering an educational perspective on the intangible heritage of Mogarraz and the Sierra de Francia, linking the memory of traditional trades to local identity and the historic setting of the Plaza Mayor.
