Llastres Lighthouse

Llastres Lighthouse

PARAJE

The Llastres Lighthouse is a coastal lighthouse located on the cape of Lastres, in the parish and fishing village of Llastres, council of Colunga, on the eastern coast of Asturias. It stands on a cliff facing the Bay of Biscay and is part of the most recognizable maritime landscape of this town, with wide views over the coast and the open sea. It is an enclave of scenic interest due to its elevated and exposed location, where the coastal relief clearly marks the transition between the coastal rasa and the sea cliffs. The access places it in an open environment, close to Lluces, from where it dominates a stretch of coastline much appreciated by those seeking natural viewpoints and scenery of the Atlantic coast. Its interest for the visit lies in the combination of port architecture, landscape and coastal panorama. It is also known for being the youngest lighthouse in Asturias, built in 1994, and for its association with the tourist image of Lastres, one of the most outstanding fishing villages in the Principality. Other values of the Colunga coastline are integrated in the immediate surroundings, such as the visual continuity towards nearby beaches and cliffs. The reference to the lighthouse also appears in tourist guides and resources of Asturias and the network of the Most Beautiful Villages of Spain, which confirms its relevance as a landscape landmark and visitable resource.

San Roque viewpoint

MIRADOR

The Mirador de San Roque is a panoramic viewpoint located at the top of the fishing village of Llastres, in the municipality of Colunga, Asturias, next to the Campo de San Roque and the popular chapel dedicated to the saint. It is located on a coastal hillock, on the eastern slope of the town, with coordinates close to 43.51656, -5.26905, from where it dominates the stepped hamlet of the village and its direct relationship with the Cantabrian Sea. Its main interest is scenic: it offers a wide view over the port of Lastres, its bay and the coastline, with the Sierra del Sueve as a backdrop. From this natural balcony, the structure of the settlement, nestled between slopes and cliffs, can be appreciated, which helps to understand why Llastres is one of the most recognizable fishing villages of the Asturian coast. In addition to the viewpoint, the surroundings include a small recreational area with trees, tables, a fountain and rest areas, making it a comfortable stop for visitors and locals alike. The council's own tourism administration presents it as a privileged place for its views, and Asturias Tourism includes it within the recreational areas and scenic spots in the area. Due to its elevated location and the combination of religious heritage, recreational use and observation of the coastal landscape, it is a reference resource within the natural and tourist environment of Llastres. There is no specific figure of environmental protection for the viewpoint in the sources consulted, but its value as a highly frequented panoramic enclave and very representative of the landscape of the coast of Asturias is well known.
