Faro de Llastres

Faro de Llastres

PARAJE

The Llastres Lighthouse is a coastal lighthouse located on the cape of Lastres, in the parish and fishing village of Llastres, council of Colunga, on the eastern coast of Asturias. It stands on a cliff facing the Bay of Biscay and is part of the most recognizable maritime landscape of this town, with wide views over the coast and the open sea. It is an enclave of scenic interest due to its elevated and exposed location, where the coastal relief clearly marks the transition between the coastal rasa and the sea cliffs. The access places it in an open environment, close to Lluces, from where it dominates a stretch of coastline much appreciated by those seeking natural viewpoints and scenery of the Atlantic coast. Its interest for the visit lies in the combination of port architecture, landscape and coastal panorama. It is also known for being the youngest lighthouse in Asturias, built in 1994, and for its association with the tourist image of Lastres, one of the most outstanding fishing villages in the Principality. Other values of the Colunga coastline are integrated in the immediate surroundings, such as the visual continuity towards nearby beaches and cliffs. The reference to the lighthouse also appears in tourist guides and resources of Asturias and the network of the Most Beautiful Villages of Spain, which confirms its relevance as a landscape landmark and visitable resource.

San Roque Viewpoint

MIRADOR

The San Roque Lookout is a scenic viewpoint located at the highest point of the fishing village of Llastres, in the municipality of Colunga (Asturias), next to the Campo de San Roque and the local chapel dedicated to the saint. It is situated on a coastal hill on the eastern side of the town, offering a view of the village’s terraced houses and its direct connection to the Cantabrian Sea. Its main attraction is the scenery: it offers a sweeping view of the port of Llastres, its bay, and the coastline, with the Sierra del Sueve as a backdrop. From this viewpoint, the views take in the entire town and its beach, and on clear days, kilometers of the Asturian coastline can be seen, including the beaches of La Griega, La Isla, La Espasa, and, in the distance, Ribadesella and Llanes. The panoramic view resembles the “Asturias Paraíso Natural” logo, with the beach nestled next to the mountain, and features a sign identifying the most important landmarks in the area. The site includes a recreational area with century-old trees, tables, barbecue pits, a fountain, and a playground, making it a convenient stop for visitors and locals alike. Llastres was designated an “Exemplary Village of Asturias” in 2010, and the lookout features a plaque commemorating this recognition. The site was also used as a filming location for the TV series Doctor Mateo. The best time to visit is in spring or fall, or on clear winter days, when visibility is optimal for taking in views of the coast and the Sueve mountain range.
