POI

The Santa Bárbara Chapel in Linares de Mora, in the province of Teruel, is a small religious structure located in a secluded spot about 300 meters north of the town center. It is surrounded by the mountainous landscape characteristic of the Gúdar-Javalambre region and is located along the road to Valdelinares. The chapel dates back to 1684, placing it in the second half of the 17th century. It is one of the traditional religious structures in Linares de Mora and forms part of the group of chapels surrounding the town, along with those of Loreto and Santa Lucía. Its location outside the town center is closely linked to its character as a rural chapel and a site of popular devotion. Today, in addition to its heritage value, it serves as a waypoint on various trails and walks through the surroundings of Linares de Mora. The surrounding area contributes greatly to its appeal: from its immediate vicinity, one can admire the mountainous landscape surrounding the town, and the site serves as a landmark along the trails leading to Valdelinares and El Pino del Escobón. In short, the Santa Bárbara Hermitage is a small example of traditional 17th-century religious architecture, characterized by its simple construction, its location in the heart of nature, and its connection to the history and religious traditions of Linares de Mora.
