LINARES DE MORA VIEWPOINT TRAIL

From this lookout point, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Linares de Mora, taking in its townscape surrounded by mountains and the unique Cueva Mona. It’s the perfect spot to admire the scenery, explore the area, and capture one of those photos that capture the essence of our town.

A perfect spot, located right in the village itself, just below the castle, to stop and take in the views of the Linares River valley. From this lookout point, the landscape unfolds before us—sloping hillsides, lush vegetation, and mountains—offering a view where water and nature take center stage. It’s an ideal place to enjoy the tranquility, breathe in the fresh air, and discover the charm of Linares de Mora from its historic center.

This lookout point offers a beautiful view of Linares de Mora and, as night falls, becomes a special place to gaze up at the sky. Linares de Mora, recognized as a Starlight Tourist Destination, offers a privileged setting to enjoy the magic of the stars and contemplate the beauty of the night sky. Far from the hustle and bustle, the serenity of the mountains and the darkness of the night sky invite us to unwind, marvel at the universe, and enjoy a unique experience under the stars.

A 4.6-kilometer walk that takes us to the Peña Calva lookout point, a true balcony overlooking nature, located at 1,630 meters above sea level. It is accessed via the road from Nogueruelas to Linares de Mora (A-1701). At kilometer marker 14.6, take the dirt track that branches off to the right. If you park your car here, you’ll walk nearly 4 kilometers to reach the viewpoint (round trip via the same route). In the attached track, the route begins 1.5 kilometers further on, just a few meters from the start of the steep climb that leads to the viewpoint. It is not recommended to continue the ascent by car from this point due to the steep slope and the loose rocks that make it difficult to proceed safely. From here, it’s nearly 2.5 kilometers to the viewpoint, most of which is uphill, so it’s best to walk at a leisurely pace and enjoy the scenery. From the viewpoint, you can enjoy spectacular views of Sarrión, Rubielos de Mora, Barracas, the Sierra de Javalambre (with its snow-capped peaks in winter), and you can even make out the Javalambre Astrophysical Observatory (OAJ), located on Pico del Buitre. Without a doubt, the viewpoint is a must-see if you want to enjoy one of the best panoramic views of the Gúdar-Javalambre region.
