Parish Church of San Pedro of Verona · Genalguacil

MULTIEXPERIENCIA

The Church of San Pedro de Verona, built in the seventeenth century, stands with its slender octagonal tower as a symbol of Genalguacil. Its origin dates back to the 16th century, but it was destroyed in 1570 during the Moorish rebellion. Rebuilt in the last third of the 18th century, it was restored again in 1791 and in 1998. The temple, of academic and classicist baroque style, preserves a Mudejar wooden framework in the central nave. This church is witness to the convulsive past of the village and represents one of the most significant architectural heritage of the region.
