San Roque Chapel · Garachico
MULTIEXPERIENCIA
Located at the entrance of Garachico and facing the sea, the Ermita de San Roque was erected in 1603 as a sign of gratitude for the end of the bubonic plague. With a single nave and a hipped roof, it stands out for its sobriety and its two lateral belfries. The image of San Roque, very venerated, presides over the temple and stars every August 16 in one of the most multitudinous pilgrimages in the north of Tenerife. The present hermitage was rebuilt in 1636, thanks to the alms of the faithful, preserving the semicircular arch at the entrance and the popular fervor of past centuries.
