Camino de Sa Figuera

RUTA_CORTA

The Sa Figuera Trail is a short hiking route that connects Fornalutx with Sóller, crossing the Sierra de Tramuntana in Mallorca. Approximately 5.96 km long with a moderate-to-low elevation gain, this historic trail is part of the GR 221 route, known as the Ruta del Pedra i la Sèquia. The trail surface is uneven in some sections, featuring stone walkways, dirt paths, and areas of flat olive groves, surrounded by vegetation including orange trees, olive trees, and holm oaks. From the viewpoint, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Bay of Sóller, the surrounding valley, and the Tramuntana Mountains. The trail passes by historical sites such as an old, partially restored lime kiln, a portell with a wooden gate, and a creuer (cruceiro), as well as olive groves and streams like the Son Llampaies. The route offers an experience that evokes rural Mallorca, with clear signage toward Fornalutx and Sóller. This route is featured in reputable hiking guides such as those published by the Mallorcaturisme Foundation and the Consell de Mallorca, and is especially recommended for early morning or sunset walks, when the colors of the mountains are at their most magnificent. It is not suitable for children under three years of age or for strollers outside the urban section, and some areas are not accessible to people with limited mobility.

Es Seregalls

NATURAL

Es Seregalls is a family-run farm nestled in the unique setting of the Serra de Tramuntana, in the Es Marroig area, within the municipality of Fornalutx, Balearic Islands. It is situated at an elevation of more than 400 meters and serves as an interpretive site for a mountain olive grove, featuring ancient olive trees and an agricultural layout shaped by centuries of cultivation on the hillside. The site consists of terraces, dry-stone walls (trockenmauer), and an olive grove that preserves the traditional character of the area’s Mediterranean landscape. From the viewing point, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Vall de Sóller, Puig del Migdia, and the town of Fornalutx. Its significance lies in the direct relationship between nature and mountain agriculture, representative of the rural mosaic of the Tramuntana Mountains. It is neither a large-scale site nor a monumental viewpoint, but rather a spot of scenic and cultural value where the olive grove and the family farm preserve the identity of the place. Its cultural significance is linked to the protected status of the Serra de Tramuntana, a World Heritage Site, and to the agricultural tradition of Fornalutx, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Visits are by appointment only and include an audio guide compatible with mobile devices, offering an educational and evocative experience. The best time to visit is from October through May, avoiding the peak summer hours, when the weather is milder and the landscape is at its most spectacular.

Sa Font des Pla

NATURAL

Sa Font des Pla is a 17th-century natural spring located in the center of the village of Fornalutx, in the Sierra de Tramuntana region of Mallorca. The spring provides a continuous supply of drinking water and is integrated into the village’s traditional urban landscape, surrounded by citrus groves and stone walls that define the area’s rural architecture. It is a historic water supply fountain, modest in size but of great cultural significance to the local community. From the viewing point, one can appreciate the contrast between the fountain’s structure and the Mediterranean vegetation that frames it, with views of the Sóller Valley and the surrounding Tramuntana Mountains. The fountain is a key element of Fornalutx’s identity, recognized as one of the village’s most charming spots alongside the Plaza de España and the Church of San Juan Bautista. Its inclusion in tourist guides and on the list of Spain’s Most Beautiful Villages reflects its heritage value. The fountain does not have a specific protected status, but its age and historical function link it to the island’s tradition of water supply. According to local legend, the water from Sa Font des Pla has been used by generations of villagers for daily consumption and agricultural activities. The best time to visit is during spring or fall, when the weather is milder and the vegetation is at its most vibrant.
