Building of the Royal Hospice · El Burgo de Osma
MULTIEXPERIENCIA
The construction of the Royal Hospice began with the request of the City Council to Eleta in 1783 to allocate a space for the underprivileged. The project was presented to Bishop Calderón and the Cabildo to ensure agreement between the institutions, backed by the Crown's interest in building this type of establishment in all the bishoprics. On April 23, 1785, the Cabildo ceded the land, and the king financed the works, under the direction of Luis Bernasconi, appointed by Eleta. The Hospice was completed in 1790, but with the end of Eleta's bishopric, its decline began.
