Monument to the Tudanca cow · Carmona

The Tudanca cow, Cantabria's native breed, is a symbol of strength and tradition. It lives in semi-freedom and has been fundamental in the history of the region, since its oxen were used in the past to transport materials in times without machinery. Its meat is highly valued for its flavor and gastronomic quality. During the summer, these cows graze freely in the high passes, while the ranchers take the opportunity to mow the grass they store in the stables and use it during the winter. With the arrival of cold weather, the cows go down to the valley, at which time Carmona celebrates "La Pasá", a very important traditional festival for the community.
