MULTIEXPERIENCIA
Located in the historic center of Betancuria, the Church of Santa Maria was built in 1410 by order of Jean de Bethencourt. Destroyed by Barbary pirates in 1593, it was rebuilt during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It presents a fusion of Gothic, Mudejar, Renaissance and Baroque styles. With three naves, its stonework façade with vegetal motifs, its polychrome Mudejar coffered ceiling and the carved wooden choir stand out. Declared of Cultural Interest, is one of the most emblematic temples of Fuerteventura for its history and artistic wealth.
