Conventual Church of San Buena- ventura · Betancuria

MULTIEXPERIENCIA

The Convent Church of San Buenaventura is located in the town of Betancuria, on the site of the old Franciscan convent founded in 1416 by papal bull of Pope Benedict XIII. The current temple, rebuilt in the 17th century, preserves its original walls, although only the remains of the foundations of the convent remain. San Diego de Alcalá promoted its development and in 1485 Diego García de Herrera was buried here. Declared part of the Historic Site of Betancuria, the church stands out for its spiritual and historical value in Fuerteventura.
