Nuestra Señora de la Peña Chapel · Betancuria
MULTIEXPERIENCIA
The Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Peña, in the Vega de Río Palmas (Betancuria), was built in the 18th century by popular initiative, replacing a previous one from the 16th century. Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1985, it has a single nave with a hipped roof and a classicist façade in light stonework, with a semicircular arched doorway, bulbous columns and a pediment. The interior houses Mudejar and Baroque armor. Its construction was completed in 1716, the year in which it was blessed with a solemn ceremony presided over by the island's vicar.
