St. Bartholomew's Church
Iglesia / ErmitaThe Church of San Bartolomé de Atienza is a Romanesque Catholic temple located in the town of Atienza, in the province of Guadalajara, Castilla-La Mancha. It currently functions as a church-museum, dedicated to religious art and, according to local tourist sources, also to paleontology and sacred art. Its construction dates back to the beginning of the 13th century, at the height of the Castilian Romanesque period. The sources consulted describe it as one of the buildings that best preserves the early Romanesque style in Atienza, with a very unique implantation in the lower part of the village, in a wooded environment and surrounded by a courtyard and stone enclosure. Among the most outstanding heritage elements, documented by the sources, are its Romanesque masonry, the belfry and the museum complex installed inside. The conservation of pieces of religious art from other churches in Atienza is also noted, which reinforces its value as a heritage container of the medieval town. The temple is integrated into the historic landscape of Atienza, a town of great medieval relevance in the Serranía de Guadalajara, articulated around the castle and its historical fabric. Its current function as a museum allows to preserve and show part of the local religious heritage in a building of great architectural and historical interest.

Somolinos Lagoon
PARAJEThe Laguna de Somolinos is a mountain lagoon located in the surroundings of Atienza, in the Sierra de Pela, although the enclave belongs to the term of Somolinos, very close to the CM-110 road and just over a kilometer from the village. It is a wetland of karstic-travertine origin, formed by the damming of the waters of the Manadero river by means of a travertine dam, which explains its geological and scenic uniqueness. It is a small but very characteristic freshwater area, with an approximate surface of 3.8 hectares and an average depth of 12 meters. Its main interest lies in the contrast between the sheet of water, the aridity of the environment and the sandstone and travertine formations that surround it, in addition to its value as a microhabitat for mountain flora and fauna. The lagoon stands out for maintaining fairly stable water throughout the year and for feeding the source of the Bordova River. This stability favors an unusual humid environment in this area of northeastern Guadalajara, where the landscape is harsh, high and subject to cold winters, with frequent snow in the mountains. Its relevance is also of environmental protection: it is part of the protected area Sierra de Pela and Somolinos lagoon, recognized for its geological, geomorphological and ecological values. For the visitor, it is of interest for its easy access, its reading of the landscape and the possibility of walking through it in an environment of high natural value and low human alteration.

Holy Trinity Museum
MuseoThe Museum of the Holy Trinity is a museum of sacred art and festive heritage installed in the church of the Trinity, in Atienza (Guadalajara), very close to the coordinates indicated. The tourist card of Castilla-La Mancha identifies it as a museum and places its main interest in the exhibition of religious pieces and the celebration of La Caballada, a festival with more than 800 years of history and declared of National Tourist Interest since 1986. The building is a 13th century church, of Romanesque origin, although at present it presents a mixture of styles due to historical reforms: the Romanesque apse is preserved and there are documented Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque additions. This architectural reading also appears on the tourist website of Atienza, which states that the temple was originally Romanesque and that its museum was opened in the early twenty-first century. Among the outstanding heritage elements are a Romanesque baptismal font, a Baroque altarpiece, the Christ of the Four Nails of the fourteenth century and other images and pieces of religious art linked to the temple. The collection also incorporates documents, photographs, costumes and items of the Brotherhood of La Caballada, which help to explain the historical continuity of this local celebration. The resource has, therefore, a double value: religious and ethnographic. On the one hand, it preserves the material memory of a medieval church; on the other hand, it acts as an interpretative space of one of the most emblematic traditions of Atienza, in the context of the remarkable monumental ensemble of this town in the province of Guadalajara.

Posada del Cordón
MuseoLa Posada del Cordón is a museum or interpretation center dedicated to the traditional culture of the province of Guadalajara, located in Atienza, next to the access from the Plaza de España and on Héctor Vázquez Street, according to the provincial tourist information sheets. The resource is identified as the Interpretation Center of Traditional Culture and exhibits a large ethnographic collection of more than 600 pieces, with an exhibition area of about 400 m². It is linked to the Diputación de Guadalajara and also functions as a tourist information point and a space for educational activities. The building occupies an old mansion from the 15th century, of which the Gothic façade is preserved; the rest of the construction is new, according to the sources consulted. Therefore, the building combines a late medieval origin with a contemporary museum-oriented intervention. This heritage reuse allows to present the history, customs and traditions of the province in a historical architectural framework closely associated with the medieval town of Atienza. Its contents include collections on identity, traditional architecture, festive annual cycle, beliefs, daily life, popular arts and crafts, supported by panels, videos, images and interactive screens. In the context of Atienza, a medieval town of great historical relevance, the Posada del Cordón expands the local heritage offer and is integrated into the set of cultural visits of the municipality.
