Although today only vestiges of its walls remain, Arties Castle was a key piece in the defense of the Val d'Aran. Located in a strategic point, it controlled access to the valley and served as a fortress against possible invasions. Its ruins, silent and solemn, evoke times of resistance and conflict, and are a living testimony of the military and symbolic importance of this medieval enclave in the history of Aran.
