This ancient tower and gateway to the town of Alpuente, of 9th-century Islamic origin, has been in continuous use to this day. In the 16th century, the Hall of the Cortes and the Council Chamber were added, featuring impressive plasterwork ceilings. It served as City Hall until 2010.
