Pollentia Roman City · Alcúdia
MULTIEXPERIENCIA
The Roman city of Pollentia, founded after the conquest of Quintus Caecilius Metellus in 123 BC, marks the beginning of urban life in Mallorca. Between the 1st century BC and 3rd century AD it reached its peak as the main Roman city in the Balearic Islands, with a water and sewage network. Today three areas can be visited: La Portella, with houses such as the Dos Tesoros; the Forum, with temples and tabernae; and the Theater, excavated in rock. Every August, the theater is revived with the cultural cycle "Agosto a la Fresca". Since 2000, the Consortium of Pollentia watches over its conservation.
