Cathedral of the Savior (XIV- XV centuries) · Albarracín

MULTIEXPERIENCIA

The Cathedral of Albarracín was built in the 13th century over the old mosque, after the creation of the diocese in 1172. The present building, begun in 1532 by Bishop Gaspar Jofre de Borja, houses noble chapels and a baroque organ. The altarpiece of St. Peter, in unpolychromed wood, and the baroque chapel of the Virgin of Pilar with reliefs on the life of saints stand out. Also outstanding is the funerary monument of Bishop Gabriel de Sora and Roman remains embedded in the base of the tower, which was completed in 1598.
