The Churches of Sepúlveda

The Romanesque churches of El Salvador, Our Lady of La Peña, Saint Bartholomew, Saint James, and Saints Justus and Pastor are landmarks not only in the province’s Romanesque architecture but also on a national scale. Visiting them is like stepping back in time to one of the town’s golden ages and experiencing unique examples of this artistic period.

Clock Tower and City Wall

The building known as the castle marks the boundary of the town’s walls and forms one of the shorter sides of the Plaza Mayor (which is rectangular and partially colonnaded). Seven gates of the city wall remain today, which is why Sepúlveda is known as the “Town of the Seven Gates.”
