The Episcopal residence of Oxoma is located on Calle Mayor, near the Cathedral. The most interesting feature is the entrance portal, dating from the time of Bishop Alonso Enríquez (1506–1523).

Built in the Spanish-Flemish Gothic style, it consists of a semicircular arch formed by large voussoirs, with a lobed intrados, framed by a Muslim-inspired alfiz supported by corbels and bearing Bishop Enríquez’s coat of arms.

The importance of the episcopal office in El Burgo de Osma is such that it is difficult to fully understand the values of the town without taking into account this close bond between the town and the church, between civic life and the ecclesiastical presence.

Since 1342, the bishop has been the temporal lord of the town and its lands, having acquired these rights from the Cathedral Chapter.

Today, in addition to serving as the bishop’s residence and offices, the Palace houses the diocesan archives.
