It's official! Vilanova dos Infantes already shines among the Most Beautiful Villages of Spain.

07 Jun 2026 · 12:57

A historic recognition that honors authenticity, the preservation of its heritage, and pride in its living traditions.

A historic day of celebration and tradition

The event, which brought together residents and officials, was marked by emotion and local folklore:

  • Music with roots: The Vilanova Band provided the soundtrack by performing the Galician March and the Galician Anthem.

  • Ancient dance: The Dancers of Vilanova dazzled with their guild dance, highlighting the debut of two young dancers who ensure the generational transition.

  • The big moment: Shortly after 12:30 p.m., the official sign was unveiled—the symbol that now welcomes travelers to this medieval town. The day concluded with a neighborhood toast featuring Galician wine in the Plaza del Balcón.

“Vilanova dos Infantes exceptionally embodies the authenticity and beauty of a Galician town.”

— Francisco Mestre, president of the Association

What makes Vilanova dos Infantes unique?

The exclusive club of Galician rural destinations

With this designation, Vilanova becomes the fifth location in Galicia to achieve this distinction. It shares this international seal of quality with Oseira (Cea) and O Castro Caldelas in the province of Ourense, and with Ponte Maceira and Mondoñedo in the rest of the region.
