Pampaneira, 4 de noviembre de 2026. The Pampaneira Town Council plenary session approved yesterday, Tuesday, 3 November, the institutional adhesion to the Pacto de Estado frente a la Emergencia Climática, an initiative promoted by the Government of Spain, through the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, to strengthen cooperation between administrations in the face of the effects of climate change.
With this agreement, the Town Council reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and the protection of the municipality's natural heritage, paying special attention to the prevention of forest fires, the sustainable management of water, the conservation of biodiversity and adaptation to extreme weather events.
The mayor of Pampaneira, Ángel Pérez Rodríguez, has highlighted that:
Pampaneira has an extraordinary natural heritage, which is part of our identity and our way of life. Caring for our mountains, protecting the water and preventing the effects of climate change is a responsibility we have towards our neighbours and towards future generations.
The mayor has also pointed out that:
Small rural municipalities must have a voice and a leading role in the policies that affect our territory. We want this commitment to help improve the quality of life of our population and to guarantee a sustainable future for Pampaneira.
The agreement also provides for continuing the technical studies to assess the possible establishment of a municipal climate shelter, as well as promoting the coordination of future actions with the Local Health Action Network of Pampaneira (RELAS).
With this decision, Pampaneira continues to advance in its commitment to the protection of its environment, the sustainable development of rural areas and the well-being of present and future generations.
