Castilla y León now has its own association of Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España. The mayors of 27 of the region's 31 villages that belong to the network founded it this Thursday, 5 November, at the Monasterio de Nuestra Señora de Prado in Valladolid, headquarters of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport. Its first president is Ramón López Blázquez, mayor of Sepúlveda, and the association's headquarters will be in Sepúlveda.

The day began early with the founding assembly, at which the mayors approved the statutes, elected the first board of directors and signed the deed of constitution. Afterwards, the Councillor for Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Junta de Castilla y León, José Alberto Díaz Pico, and the Director General of Tourism received the mayors. The president of the Asociación Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España, Francisco Mestre, was also present.
The Junta will support the new association
Díaz Pico congratulated the founding villages, welcomed them and assured them that the Junta will support the new association. He stressed that, given the relevance that the Asociación Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España has across Spain, its arrival in Castilla y León is a matter of great importance for the Junta.

The community with the most villages in the network
Castilla y León is the community with the most villages in Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España: 31 of the 126, spread across its nine provinces. One in every four villages in the network is in Castilla y León. Between September 2025 and August 2026, they received more than six million visitors, according to data from Telefónica Tech, which the association works with.
One voice before the Junta
The new association is born to speak on behalf of these villages before the Junta de Castilla y León and the diputaciones: to request aid, agreements and investments, and to tackle together what they share, such as housing, transport, services, wildfire prevention or local commerce. The tourism promotion of the villages continues to be handled by the national association, with its website, app, social networks and presence at FITUR.
It is the third regional association in the network, after that of Cantabria, founded in June in Santander with seven villages, and that of Aragón, founded in July in Zaragoza with fifteen. Castilla-La Mancha has already begun the process.

The president of the Asociación Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España, Francisco Mestre, has stated:
«Castilla y León is the community with the most villages in the network, and today its mayors have shown that they want to work together. With one voice before the Junta, these villages will be able to better defend what they need to keep living and be well cared for. Thanks to the councillor and the director general of Tourism for their support from day one.»
