Morella kicks off the August 12 eclipse schedule with activities for people of all ages

Last night was the first moon-viewing event at Pla dels Estudis, and the next one will be on Monday with an expert who chases eclipses around the world

These are educational and informative activities designed to help people enjoy the astronomical event, though there are also cultural activities

The program and viewing schedule have been developed in collaboration with the Astro Morella association and will be announced in full next week

On July 28, children attending summer school will participate in two workshops on how to observe the eclipse, led by the UJI

Morella is one of the locations on the Iberian Peninsula where the total solar eclipse scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, will be visible. As a result, the city is also hosting a packed schedule of events surrounding this unique astronomical event, which will inform the public about various important aspects. Most of these events are informative and educational, though there are also cultural activities. Last night, the series kicked off with a moon observation session at Pla dels Estudis, organized in collaboration with the Astro Morella astronomy association.

The next event will take place on Monday, July 27, at the Sala del Justicia, where Josep Masalles will deliver a lecture titled “Chasing Eclipses Around the World: Solar Eclipses, a Spectacle of Nature from a Scientific Perspective,” in which he will share his experiences. On Thursday, July 30, an informational talk titled “How and Where to Observe the Eclipse from Morella” will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Theater, where the city’s organized plan for the event will be explained. On August 1 at 12:00 p.m. in Plaça Colom, there will be an educational talk titled “The Sun and Eclipses,” which will serve as a hands-on workshop on solar observation using telescopes. On Tuesday, August 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the Sala del Justicia, a lecture on solar eclipses by Flocester Choral is scheduled. On Wednesday, August 12, at 9:00 a.m., there will be a yoga class and gong session in the Sala del Justicia. Finally, on August 13 at 8:00 p.m., the Convent of San Francisco will host a concert by Floecester Choral. In addition, on Tuesday, July 28, workshops will be held for children in summer school to learn how to observe the eclipse and discover the reasons behind this phenomenon.
