More than 300 musicians fill Villanueva de los Infantes with music at the First Campo de Montiel Band Festival

On September 19th, Villanueva de los Infantes hosted the 1st Campo de Montiel Music Band Gathering, an event that brought together more than 300 musicians from different towns in the region. The gathering, organized by the local Agrupación Musical Santa Cecilia, was held with the collaboration of the Diputación Provincial de Ciudad Real and the sponsorship of the Ayuntamiento de Infantes, through its Department of Culture.

In addition to the host band, this first edition featured the participation of the Agrupación Musical Concentus, from Carrizosa; the Asociación Musical Montiel, from Montiel; the Asociación Músico-Cultural Villa de Castellar de Santiago, from Castellar de Santiago; the Asociación Musical Edeba, from Torrenueva; the Agrupación Musical Jorge Manrique, from Villamanrique; the Banda Municipal de Música de Villahermosa; the Banda Municipal de Música de Villanueva de la Fuente, and the Unión Musical de Membrilla.

From early in the morning, music was the main protagonist in the town's streets. The various participating groups began their respective parades from different neighborhoods and points of Villanueva de los Infantes, bringing music to a large part of the municipality before converging in the historic center.

Subsequently, all the groups joined together to march to the Plaza Mayor, where one of the most spectacular moments of the day took place. The more than 300 participating musicians formed a large joint band, performing several pasodobles under the direction of Rosa María Martínez Medina, conductor of the Agrupación Musical Santa Cecilia.

After the performances, the participating musicians shared a day of fellowship and a popular meal at the Colegio Sagrado Corazón, thus putting an end to a morning marked not only by music, but also by the meeting and camaraderie between the different groups.

The 1st Campo de Montiel Music Band Gathering was created with a desire for continuity and the intention of becoming an annual and itinerant event among the different municipalities of the territory. This first edition has been a complete success in terms of participation, both due to the high number of musicians gathered and the public's response to an initiative that not only highlights the important musical tradition existing in the Campo de Montiel, but also fosters meeting, fellowship, and bonds between the groups and residents of the region.
