Villanueva de los Infantes has become the first host city for the 35th edition of the Provincial Theater Festival. After three days of performances, the performing arts series organized by the Ciudad Real Provincial Council concluded its run in the La Mancha town last night. The iconic courtyard of the Casa de Rueda, transformed for the occasion into a small open-air theater, welcomed actors Franz Gómez, Flor de María Canales Bastidas, and Juan Antonio Fernández Villén to its stage.

Gómez kicked off the evening with his production “Peter sin pan,” a story that moves between comedy and drama, transforming the boy who didn’t want to grow up into a destitute beggar.

Next, the oral storyteller Flor de María Canales Bastidas took the stage with a humorous performance. Her performance, “Desde mi oscuridad,” combines traditional tales with anecdotes and personal experiences from Latin America—from Peru to Argentina—to highlight the richness and beauty of a multiculturalism that the artist proudly champions.

Finally, Juan Antonio Fernández Villén closed the monologue recital with his “Andura,” bringing his Andalusian humor, nourished by the idiosyncrasies of rural life, and reflecting the customs and superstitions that were present in villages until not so long ago.

This diverse session brought to a close an intense week of theater in Villanueva de los Infantes. os: “The new format, with buses from different municipalities, has brought the plays from Villanueva de los Infantes to audiences throughout the Campo de Montiel region, turning our town into the regional theater capital for a few days.”
