Llerena, Gastronomic Landmark 2026

10 Jul 2026 · 09:05

In Llerena, a “Gastronomic Monument,” the city dresses up to offer dinners specially prepared for the occasion and designed to satisfy even the most discerning palates in unique settings; an initiative that transforms some of the city’s most iconic spots into exclusive open-air dining venues to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

For this edition, the Mudejar courtyard of the former Episcopal Palace—which served as the first headquarters of the Tribunal of the Holy Inquisition in Llerena; San Juan Square, surrounding the chapel that once belonged to Licenciado Zapata and situated beneath the tower of our imposing Church of Our Lady of Granada; the stately courtyard of what is now the Hospedería Mirador de Llerena—one of the most elegant residences in Extremadura—and the central courtyard of the former Tax Collection Palace of the Mesa Maestral, now home to the Universidad Popular, have been chosen as the venues.

Four iconic venues offering four exclusive gastronomic experiences.

“Llerena, Gastronomic Monument” is an attractive summer activity in Llerena that combines elements defining our town’s identity: architectural heritage, fine cuisine, culture, social interaction, and tourism promotion.

“Llerena, Gastronomic Monument” allows visitors to discover historic sites from a different perspective, turning each dinner into a unique experience in which the setting is an essential part of the menu. The nighttime lighting and the monumental architecture of each chosen location help create unique moments that go beyond a mere culinary tasting.
