The Itiner Network presents the photography exhibition, “Marisa Flórez: A Time to Look.”

The exhibition will be on view for three weeks in the galleries of the Juan de Goyeneche Palace.

Nuevo Baztán once again becomes a cultural hub with the arrival of a new exhibition from the Community of Madrid’s Red Itiner. From June 23 to July 15, the halls of the Palacio de Juan de Goyeneche will host the exhibition “Marisa Flórez. A Time to Look (1970–2020),” a unique opportunity to discover the work of one of the leading figures in Spanish photojournalism.

Marisa Flórez (León, 1948) has a professional career spanning more than five decades dedicated to photography and photojournalism. Her work has been recognized with major awards, including the National Award for Photojournalism (1981), the Piedad Isla Award (2015), and the recent Culture Award from the Community of Madrid (2024).

The photographer began her professional career in 1971 at the newspaper *Informaciones* and spent much of her career at *El País*, where she worked from 1976 to 2012 as a photojournalist, managing editor, and photo editor. Her work stands out for its ability to combine the documentary value of photography with an elegant and personal artistic vision.

The exhibition brings together 36 images that trace some of the most significant moments in Spain’s recent history. Through these images, visitors can discover the political, social, and cultural events that defined an era—from the consolidation of democracy and the opening up of parliamentary life to the first citizen protests and the arrival of *Guernica* in our country.

The exhibition also allows visitors to appreciate the artist’s visual and narrative richness through portraits, group scenes, close-ups, contrasts, and compositions that reflect both the human dimension and the historical significance of each captured moment.

“Marisa Flórez. A Time to Look (1970–2020)” also serves as a tribute to one of the pioneers of Spanish photojournalism, who blazed a trail in a profession traditionally dominated by men and made a decisive contribution to the renewal of photojournalism in our country.

The exhibition is curated by Mónica Carabias Álvaro and organized by the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sports of the Community of Madrid as part of the Red Itiner program.

The exhibition will be open during the tourist office’s regular hours from June 23 to July 15, 2026, in the Exhibition Halls of the Palacio de Juan de Goyeneche in Nuevo Baztán. Admission is free.
