The Casa de Rueda in Villanueva de los Infantes is hosting the 2nd Campo del Quijote Wine Tasting Competition

This Sunday, Villanueva de los Infantes hosted the II Concurso de Catadores de Vino Campo del Quijote, an initiative whose main objective is to highlight and promote the products of the Campo de Montiel, showcasing the quality and diversity of the region's agri-food production. It is a way of contributing to generating visibility for local producers, fostering awareness of their products, and opening up new possibilities for their commercialization.

The competition is part of the Liga Cata Wine CLM, and in this second edition, it has managed to surpass the participation figures recorded in the first, consolidating itself as a benchmark event for wine tasting enthusiasts and professionals within Castilla-La Mancha.

Participants had to overcome five tests designed to evaluate their knowledge and analytical skills regarding wine. The first consisted of ordering different wines from highest to lowest alcohol content; the second, establishing the order of the wines based on their acidity; and the third, ordering the samples according to their sulfite content. The last two tests were aimed at identifying grape varieties, one focused on wines made with red grapes and the other on wines made with white grapes.

The II Concurso de Catadores de Vino Campo del Quijote also stands out for the value of its prizes, with a first prize of 500 euros awarded to José Andrés Reyes Cañadilla.

The runner-up was Alberto Sáez Hernández, who received a prize of 300 euros. The third prize, endowed with 200 euros, went to Valentín Sáez Hernández.

After the tasting competition, a tasting of typical products from the Campo de Montiel was held for interested members of the public. Furthermore, thanks to Viajes Himalaya, a one-week stay in Zahara de los Atunes was raffled among the participants.
