Opening of the Toy Museum in Mojácar

03 Nov 2026 · 12:25

If Mojácar was already a place where memories are made that tend to stay with visitors for life, from next Saturday it will also take many of those who pass through the village back to their earliest childhood. All thanks to the Toy Museum, which will open its doors on 24 October thanks to the drive of the Town Council and the generosity of a local resident.

The new museum will be the only municipal Toy Museum in the comarca, so it is set to offer an experience shared by all generations. It will be "a very special space where memories, history and nostalgia come to life through toys", as the Town Council itself has stressed.

This new project becomes a reality from Saturday, largely thanks to the loan of the first toys to be displayed in the museum by a private individual, Francisco Javier Navarro, who has a large collection.

In this first stage of the museum, and until more toys arrive, visitors will be able to admire, among the display cases, a carefully chosen selection of vintage vehicles, ranging from old delivery trucks, fire engines, trams and buses to airplanes and helicopters.

But the appeal of the exhibition does not stop at the vehicles. The handcrafted creation of custom sets and dioramas by the collector himself also stands out, such as a circus with every detail included, or a charming village inspired by the popular characters of Los Pitufos and their world.

The Mojácar Councillor for Culture, Noemí Linares, stressed the emotional value of this project, which will be inaugurated at six in the evening, during an interview on Cadena SER Levante. "It is the first room of what we hope will become a larger museum dedicated to toys, in this case to miniature toys", explained the Mojácar councillor before emphasising the essence behind this new space.

"It is not a museum that aims to be made up entirely of super valuable pieces, but rather one that, when we open, takes us back to our childhood, and lets children see how people have always played, which has not always been with mobile phones or 'tablets' ", Linares added.

For now, the museum will be open in the mornings from Monday to Friday and will be aimed especially, in these first stages, at school visits, with the plan to gradually extend its opening hours for the general public and visitors.

In the same interview, the Mojácar Culture Department encouraged residents and visitors to join this initiative by lending or donating toys from their own childhood to help the space grow and become part of this unique museum. "The idea is also that other people who have toys from their childhood and want to display them can donate them to the Toy Museum", the Mojácar councillor invited.
