The short film *Cervantes enamorado*, produced entirely in the municipality of Villanueva de los Infantes, was screened for the first time outside the province of Ciudad Real on May 28. Screened at Madrid’s iconic Cine Paz, the film celebrated its premiere in Spain’s capital in style.

The screening became a special event thanks to the large turnout of Villanueva de los Infantes natives living in Madrid who came to the theater to see their hometown and fellow townspeople on the big screen. They were joined by various figures from the world of culture, as well as the creators of *Cervantes enamorado* themselves: the film’s director, Francisco José Pacheco; the producer and art and costume director, Francisco Javier Peinado; and the actors Pascual García, Pilar Riaza, Mercedes Gutiérrez, and Damián Solís. They were also accompanied by Clara Tejerina, who was in charge of the short film’s editing and post-production.

During the presentation, in which all of them participated, the value of the project was highlighted not only as an artistic work but also as a portrait of and tribute to the character of the town of Villanueva de los Infantes. Mention was also made of the remarkable involvement of a large number of local businesses, associations, and other groups, whose collaboration made it possible to produce this film, which is both in spirit and production a true product of Villanueva de los Infantes. The short film is described as a La Mancha-style parody of *Shakespeare in Love*, and imagines the adventures of Miguel de Cervantes in the Villanueva de los Infantes of the Golden Age—in the town that he himself would later choose as the “Place in La Mancha” where the adventures of his Ingenious Gentleman begin, according to a study by the Complutense University published in 2005.

The premiere of “Cervantes Enamorado” in Madrid was made possible thanks to the support of the City Council, which has been involved in the film’s production from the very beginning. The City Council has viewed the project as a way to highlight the artistic heritage of Villanueva de los Infantes, as well as the multifaceted talent of its people. The short film is currently being distributed at film festivals and on film circuits, having already won two awards (Best Costume Design and Best First-Time Director) at the Corto Cortismo festival in Miguelturra.
